Introducing Dulux Colour of the Year 'Denim Drift'
Denim Drift is all about fresh
Like a re-take on a favourite pair of blue jeans, Denim Drift brings a softness to blues of old. Its muted or 'greyed' hue is subtle and adaptable to most rooms. From the greys of 2016, Denim Drift dials up the depth and brightness and gives rooms a new vibrance.
Those who know me, know that I have never been a huge fan of 'blue' as an interior colour. This might be because the typical blues used in residential homes seem to lack depth and are often poorly paired either with interiors or other colours.
Each time new colours are released I believe its important to check back in and really assess the colour palette on its merits, you never know you just may surprise yourself!
The 'Drift' part of the name makes me think of the beach on a stormy day, grey and weathered driftwood against pale sand and a churning sea. All the combinations of greys and blues mixed together creating a very moody colour palette.
Decorating with Denim Drift's colour palette
Dulux has created a 10-colour palette to complement Denim Drift and integrate into your design palette whether it be furnishings, paint or decor. The range of blues and complimentary colours includes more muted blues as well as a range if brighter hues.
The range allows you to really set the mood of a room while still maintaining a consistent colour theme throughout the home. Here are a few examples of how to combine the different colours together for simply elegance or moody blues, the look is up to you!
